Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) is an internationally accredited Teaching University in Batumi, Georgia. BSMA was established in 1929.

The University’s main function is to prepare qualified staff for employment within the marine-trade fleet and maritime transport infrastructure. BSMA provides an educational process in accordance with the laws of Georgia "On Higher Education", "On Vocational Education", "On the Education and Certification of Seafarers", STCW and its own regulations.

Georgia is a member country of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), therefore the normative documents and international conventions recognized by the IMO have the force of law for BSMA.

BSMA actively cooperates with such recognized maritime training centers in the region and the world as: Odessa National Maritime Academy (ONMA), Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA). Maritime Academy of Tallinn University of Technology (EMA), Maritime Universities of Gdynia (GMU) and Szczecin (SMU) in Poland, Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University (ITU MF), Maritime University of Constanta (CMU), University of Cadiz (Spain), Liepaja Maritime College (Latvia), Szczecin Maritime University (Poland), Latvian Maritime Academy (Latvia), Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (Bulgaria), University of Southeast Norway (Norway), Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Malta (Malta), Karadeniz Technical University (Turkey), University of the Aegean (Greece); International School of Social and Business Studies (Slovenia), Polytechnic University of Timisoara (Romania), University College of Entrepreneurship and Management in Lublin (Poland), Novikontas Maritime College (Latvia), Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and others.

BSMA Currently Provides an educational process on Three faculties:

1.Faculty of Navigation.

2.Faculty of Engineering.

3.Faculty of Business and Management.
